How far in advance can I purchase a policy?

You can purchase a Better Insurance home policy up to sixty (60) days in advance of your desired coverage start date.

How long does my policy last?

Better Insurance home policies are twelve (12) months in length, from the coverage start date that you select.

Does applying for a policy negatively impact my credit score?

Not at all! When you apply for a quote for a Better Insurance policy, your credit information or other third party consumer reports may be obtained to offer a price uniquely for you, depending on your state. Don't worry though, any credit inquiry is considered a 'soft hit' that won't affect your credit score in any way.

Can Better Cover help me cancel my previous insurance policy?

Absolutely! Better Cover can take the work off your hands and cancel your current policy for you. Once you bind a new policy we will reach out and help make that process simple and easy!

What happens to my policy if I move?

If you're moving, you will need to cancel your existing Better Insurance home policy and purchase a new one (if you're moving to a state where Better Insurance is available). You can do that by contacting our agents at betterinsurance@better.com If you're moving to a state where Better Insurance is not yet available, one of our agents can help you find another homeowners policy in that state.
